Indigenous Education

We respectfully acknowledge the Kombumerri people of the Yugambeh Nation and have developed strong partnerships with our Elders to support students. Our Indigenous Program aims to provide a safe, connected outcomes-based learning environment between the student, school and community to support each individual learner. Our Dolphin Room provides a space for students to connect with our Indigenous Liaison Officer, staff and Elders to explore their cultural connections.

We have developed strong partnerships with our local community, including Kalwun in Oxenford. Our EATSIPS Committee supports the organisation of Indigenous learning opportunities and social occasions, such as NAIDOC. Students participate in Deadly Choices, the Suns AFL Indigenous Program, the Arts-based learning experiences with our Elders.
Our staff have participated in professional learning to support our community’s understanding of Indigenous cultures, including Crossing Cultures and A Hidden History. Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded in students’ units of work and Indigenous students are supported to achieve their academic, social and emotional goals.
