School Chaplain Service

Helensvale SS chaplaincy service is provided by the community of Christian churches in the Helensvale and surrounding suburbs, in conjunction with Scripture Union Queensland. The chaplaincy service seeks to provide care and support to all students, staff and their families. The chaplaincy service is provided for all students, staff and their families regardless of race, religion or values. All matters raised are treated in complete confidence without judgement. Our school chaplains work in conjunction with our support services staff to support our students and families. 

What support is available?

  • A listening ear without judgement
    • face to face at school

    • by telephone

    • in your home

  • Emotional support

  • Help in times of grief and loss

  • Referral to appropriate support groups and agencies


What else does a school chaplain do?

  • Attend excursions, camps and other events
  • Runs a number of lunchtime programs

  • Provides a link between the school, community and churches

  • Promotes prayer for the school and in school among staff and students


Introducing the school chaplain...

Mr Long (lom) Bradley has been school chaplain at Helensvale SS since the beginning of 2006. Long lives in Helensvale and attends the Southport Church of Christ. Long has been working with children and young people for nearly twenty years. He enjoys spending time with his son, playing the drums and guitar, photography, computing, reading and bushwalking. Long also serves the community as a Justice of the Peace (qualified).
