The library is a spacious, fully air-conditioned learning space. It is home to a large collection of children’s fiction and non-fiction books as well as teacher resources.
All classes have timetabled library borrowing periods. Children may also borrow books independently as often as they wish. Independent borrowing times are during Morning Tea and Lunch breaks. There is always a teacher on duty during these breaks to assist students with their borrowing and to make suggestions. Student library monitors are also on hand to help with borrowing. There is colouring and story time also at both breaks.
Students’ borrowing limits have been designed to allow children to progressively explore the resources available, as enable them to take care of the books they have borrowed.
Students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 may borrow: 1 book at a time.
Year 3 and Year 4: 2 books
Year 5 and 6: 4 books
Prep students have access to the Junior Fiction section of the library.
The Year 1 and 2 students may borrow from the Junior Fiction and Junior Non-Fiction. Year 3 and 6 student scan borrow from all areas.
All loans are for two weeks, but may be extended for a further two weeks as long as the loan is renewed at the library.
