School Chaplain Service
Helensvale SS chaplaincy service is provided by the community of Christian churches in the Helensvale and surrounding suburbs, in conjunction with Scripture Union Queensland. The chaplaincy service seeks to provide care and support to all students, staff and their families. The chaplaincy service is provided for all students, staff and their families regardless of race, religion or values. All matters raised are treated in complete confidence without judgement. Our school chaplains work in conjunction with our support services staff to support our students and families.
Meet Our School Chaplain
Hi, I'm Cherie!
Welcome! I'm so excited to be part of our school community as the School Chaplain.
As chaplain, I'm here to provide a safe, friendly and welcoming space where students can talk, be heard, ask questions, seek encouragement and know that someone is there for them.
School life can come with lots of emotions and challenges — friendships, worries, family changes, grief, confidence, big feelings and everything in between. Sometimes students just need someone to listen without judgement. That's where I come in.
I also love creating opportunities for students to connect and have fun through lunchtime activities, creative activities, conversations, small groups and special events.
What does a chaplain do?
Chaplaincy is about connection, care and support.
I can support students through:
- One-on-one conversations
- Emotional and wellbeing support
- Prayer and spiritual support when requested
- Friendship and relationship challenges
- Difficult or challenging times
- Creative and lunchtime activities
- Building connection, confidence and belonging
- Supporting families where appropriate
- Connecting students and families with additional support when needed
My approach
My goal is simple: to meet students where they are, listen to them, encourage them and walk alongside them.
I want every student to know that they are valued, loved and important, and that they have someone they can come and talk to.
Whether you need a chat, a laugh, some encouragement, someone to listen, or simply want to join in an activity — come and say hi!
