What is Inclusive Education?
At Helensvale State School, students experience inclusive education when they can access and fully participate in learning, alongside their similar-aged peers. We are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student feels a sense of belonging, is valued for their individual strengths, and is supported to achieve their full potential.
Inclusive education is embedded across all aspects of school life through high-quality teaching, collaborative practices and reasonable adjustments that respond to the diverse learning, wellbeing, and engagement needs of our students.
Our Vision
At Helensvale State School, inclusion is everyone's responsibility. Our Inclusion Team works collaboratively with classroom teachers, teacher aides, families and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need to access the Australian Curriculum and actively participate in all aspects of school life.
Support is provided through a multi-tiered approach, with interventions and adjustments based on each student's identified strengths and needs. This may include targeted academic support, social and emotional learning, differentiated teaching, and individualised planning.
For students requiring additional support, the Inclusion Team provides case management to coordinate planning, monitor progress, facilitate communication between home and school, and work collaboratively with families and relevant professionals to achieve positive outcomes for students.

Participation in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
Each year, Australian schools participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). The NCCD recognises students who receive reasonable adjustments to support their access to education because of disability. It does not require a formal medical diagnosis for every student; rather, it recognises the adjustments that schools provide to ensure students can participate in learning on the same basis as their peers.
